Galen was born to Ralph E. and Ada Ford December 8, 1932. He graduated from Kansas City Central High School in 1949 and received a BS degree in chemistry from Central Missouri State College (now University of Central Missouri) in 1954, followed by an MBA degree from Missouri University at Columbia. He married Diana June Burr on June 4, 1955, a union of 53 years, until her untimely death in 2009. Galen was employed as an Engineer for Bendix (now Honeywell) at their facility in Kansas City for 34 years.
He is survived by his second wife, Evelyn Bokelman Ford, a son Mark C. Ford (Shelle), of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, a daughter Melinda McCarthy of DeSoto, Kansas and five grandchildren: Chandler Ford, Spencer Ford, Joshua McCarthy, Corey McCarthy, and Molly McCarthy.
