Garold D. Allen, 91, Shawnee, Kansas passed away Friday, October 17, 2008.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Monday, October 20, at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park. Visitation will begin an hour prior to the service in the chapel. Cremation.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Care Alternative Hospice, 9393 W. 110th St., Suite 500, Building 51, Corporate Woods, Overland Park, Kansas 66210.
Garold was born October 2, 1917 in Andover, Kansas. He was the founder of Allen Armature & Electric in Kansas City, Kansas in 1951. He traveled with his wife, Frances after his retirement in 1971. RVing throughout the U.S., they toured all 50 states. They lived in McAllen, Texas for 20 years as winter Texans. They lived in Santa Fe Tower of Overland Park during the summer. He moved in April 2008 to Sweet Life Assisted Living where he met many new friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances; son, Terry; father & mother, KC & Minnie Allen; brother, Delmon; sisters, Nadine Norton and Audrey Taylor. Survivors include his son, Gary and wife Sue; daughter-in-law, Sherron; 10 grandchildren & 8 great- grandchildren.
