Gary Barbosa

Gary Anthony Barbosa, 60 passed away November 23, 2016.  He was born June 23, 1956 in Kansas City, Kansas, the son of Anthony and Elsie (Ortiz) Barbosa.  He graduated from Bishop Ward in 1974.  Gary loved his sports, KU, Royals and the Chiefs along with tailgating.  He coached his kid’s basketball and baseball teams.  He loved golf and orchestrated golf tournaments every year in memory of his father.  He was a self-taught mechanic and an all-around handyman.  He worked for Black and Veatch for over 30 years.  He was preceded in death by his father in 2007.  Survivors include his mother, Elsie Barbosa, his children, Nick Barbosa (Aubree), Drew Barbosa (Erin),David Barbosa (Lori), his children’s mother, Judy Barbosa, his siblings, Mark Barbosa (Janice), Diane Suman (John), Carol Espinoza (Paul) and grandchildren, Brock, Dylan and Cole Barbosa.  Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Sunday with a Rosary at 7:45 at Johnson County Chapel.  Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 AM Monday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Overland Park, KS.   Fond memories and condolences may be left at www.johnsoncountychapel.com.
