Gary Y. Gunn, 83, Leawood, Kansas passed away at home Saturday, July 24, 2021.  He was born December 17, 1937 in Barnett, Missouri.

Gary received a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering from Missouri School of Mines in 1959. He began his 40 year career with Black & Veatch in 1959. He was named executive partner in 1994 and in 1996 assumed the duties of president and chief executive officer of Black & Veatch Power Development Corporation. He was a registered professional engineer in Missouri, Minnesota, Arizona and Kansas and was a member of the Missouri Society of Professional Engineers. The department of civil engineering at MSM honored Mr. Gunn in 1998 for his professional accomplishments.

Gary was an active member of Hillcrest Covenant Church of Prairie Village, generously supporting their ministries and projects. He was a philanthropist throughout his life. In retirement, he used his carpentry skills and time to support Habitat for Humanity and Hurricane Katrina relief efforts in the Gulf. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter, fisherman, and golfer.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Marion Gunn and survived by Marina Masters Gunn his wife, Marisa Gunn his daughter, Daniel Gunn his son, Milan and Diane Masters his brother and sister-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
