George E. Butler, Overland Park, Kansas, passed away peacefully on Christmas Day at Shawnee Mission Medical Center surrounded by his family.
George was born on December 19, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois to George and Marie Butler. He lived in Chicago until moving to Overland Park in 1964.
He is survived by his loving wife Nancy of 52 years, his sisters Dorothy Derus and Barbara D'Angelo of Chicago, and his daughters, Kim Georgie of O'Fallon, Missouri and Kerri Meyer of Overland Park. He also leaves the four "lights of his life", his grandsons, Matt and Hank Georgie and Jack and Ben Meyer. George will always be remembered for his strong character, dry sense of humor, love for the game of golf and independent spirit.
A visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at Atonement Lutheran Church, 9948 Metcalf, Overland Park, Kansas. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 11:00 a.m. George will be buried at DW Newcomers Sons Funeral Home, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, Kansas directly following the funeral services.
