GEORGE F. KIEFER Jr., 92, of Mountain Home, AR passed away December 29, 2012 at the Missouri Veterans Home, Cape Girardeau, MO.
A visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, January 4, 2012 at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS 66210. George was born January 20, 1920 in Washington, MO the son of George and Helena (Nierdick) Kiefer.
He attended public schools in Washington, MO. He was a Firefighter in St. James, MO before serving our country as a Messman in the United States Merchant Marines aboard the ESSO Patterson during WWII.
He was united in marriage to Elinor Kahle on December 20, 1940 in Washington, MO. They shared over 52 years of marriage before the death of his wife on September 14, 1992.
After the War, they moved to Kansas City, MO where he worked for the Kansas City, MO Fire Department. He retired as a Captain.
George later worked for the Kansas City Star Circulation Department in Kansas City, MO before purchasing the KC Star Route in Concordia, MO.
Mr. Kiefer was preceded in death by his wife, Elinor and two brothers, Alvin and Wilbert Kiefer.
Survivors include two daughters, Donna Noel of Overland Park, KS and Sharon Sprick of Adelaide, South Australia; his son, Doug Kiefer and his wife, Lisa of Independence, MO; a nephew, Charles Kiefer of Union, MO; 6 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 2 step-great-grandchildren; and 1 step-great-great-grandson.
