George Dean Sweetser, 64, Overland Park, passed away Thursday, August 23, 2007 at his home.
George was born August 21, 1943 in Hepler, Kansas. He attend Girard High School in Girard, Kansas, class of 1961. George joined the Army where he served his country till 1967. He worked at Rylie Equipment Co. for 12 years. He was self employed as George's Service and Repair for 23 years. He returned to Rylie Equipment Co. for 5 years prior to his retirement in March 2007.
Survivors include: Mary, his wife and companion of 15 years. 7 stepchildren, Lonnie Wilson of Kansas City, KS; Ronnie Wilson of Raytown, MO; Jackie Wilson of Nevada, MO; Gary Wilson of Weir, KS; Doug Griffin of Adrien, MO; Rhonda Sawyer of Olathe, KS and Heather Hobbs of Olathe, KS; 19 Grandchildren and 13 Great-grandchildren. His siblings, Glenn Sweetser of Santee,CA; Doug Sweetser of Pittsburg, KS; Ada Hull of Escondido, CA and Linda Cook of Mesquite, TX.
He was preceded in death by his father, Glenn A. Sweetser, Sr., mother, Mildred Lowry, step-father, Thomas Lowry and a brother, David Leroy Sweetser.
Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m., Monday, August 27 at D.W. Newcomer's Sons, Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf. Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday at the chapel. Burial at Johnson County Memorial Gardens following service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society, 6700 Antioch, Suite 100, Merriam, Ks 66204.
