Georgene Taylor

September 20, 1932 — October 10, 2015

Georgene (Anderson) Taylor passed away on October 10, 2015.  She was born on September 20, 1932 to Clarence and Grace (Noland) Anderson, who preceded her in death.  In 1950, she married Billy Ray Pine and together they had one daughter, Nolanda Arline Lee Pine.  They later divorced.  She was married to Ray S. Taylor for 32 years who preceded her in death in 2012.  Her brother, Robert Anderson, also preceded her in death.  Georgene is survived by her daughter, Nolanda (John) Crain, grandson Brendon (Sierra) Crain, granddaughters Caitlin (Karl) Kaiser and Brianna Crain (Mitch Russell); stepson Bobby (Laura) Taylor, stepdaughters Linda Brown and Mary Jane White; 9 step grandchildren and 7 step great-grandchildren.  Georgene is additionally survived by her sister, Clarice Braden, her nephews and nieces who she cherished, as well as many cousins.

Back in the late 1960s, Georgene was a single mom before there was the term “single mom.”  She worked three part-time jobs, but somehow managed to pick her daughter (“Peanut” or “my kid”) up from school every day.  In the mid to late 1970s, she took up square dancing with the Santa Fe Wheelers, where she met Ray Taylor; they later married in September 1979.  Once Ray and Georgene retired, they went on several road trips and loved to go to estate sales.  Georgene stayed busy with projects around the house with Ray, exercising at the Sylvester Powell Community Center, planning reunions for Rosedale High School, and visiting with friends and family.

Georgene was exceptionally kind and generous.  Although some would call her “quiet and composed,” there was a funny side to her; she was quick-witted and her laugh would fill a room.

Georgene was in total awe of ALL of her grandchildren and their accomplishments; no one could have been prouder than “Grandma Georgene.”

The family would like to thank Encompass Hospice for their unwavering dedication to Georgene.  LuAnne, Kelly, Mary and Caitlin – thank you.  All of you were her advocates; you put her first and it showed.  A very special thank you to Stephanie, Margaret, Rosie and Christine – there are no words to express our gratitude for the great care Georgene received.  Talk about “divine intervention!”  God Bless you.

A very special and heartfelt thank you to Joe, Bobby and Laura; thank you for being there.

Services will be private; however, the family will greet friends and relatives at a Memorial Reception at 5706 Beverly Avenue, Mission, Kansas between the hours of 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 21.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Miami County 4-H Foundation, 104 South Brayman, Paola, Kansas 66071 (913-294-4306).
