Georgina Salgado passed away peacefully with family by her side on June 2, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernesto Olmos and Florinda Miranda; her daughter Margarita Salgado, her brothers Ernesto, Hernan and Rene and her sister Margarita Olmos. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Patricio Salgado; her daughters Eliana Salgado, her son-in-law-law, Pedro Casanova, and Isabel Salgado; her brother, Julio; her granddaughters Michelle and Nathaly Casanova.
Coy, her nickname, was born and raised in Santiago, Chile. She married her beloved husband on December 24, 1963 – they loved dancing the tango together. They moved to the United States on January 23, 1986 and lived in Leavenworth until they both retired in 2005 and moved to Overland Park, KS.
She dedicated her entire life to the care of her home and family. Her favorite activities included taking care of her red roses in the summer and green plants in the house during the winter months, as well as spoiling her two Siamese cats and two parakeets. She enjoyed a good sushi and a nice glass of merlot or Buffalo Wild Wings with a cold beer every now and then. She looooooooved to have large vanilla cones from Dairy Queen. She enjoyed watching soap-operas, entertainment news, and she was also a big March Madness fan and always rooted for her Jayhawks! She didn’t like cooking much, but she made a turkey for Thanksgiving like no one else. Saturday nights was her favorite time playing Bingo with her husband, daughters and granddaughter – she always won!
In a nutshell, she was an excellent Spouse, Mother, Grandmother and Mother-in-law – She will be tremendously missed.
