Mr. Gerald Patrick

March 27, 1924 — October 23, 2011

Gerald H. Patrick (Jerry) passed away in his sleep at his home on October 23, 2011. His memorial service will be Wednesday, October 26 at 11:00 am at D.W. Newcomer's Johnson County Chapel. Visitation will start at 10:00 am.
Graveside Services are to be held immediately afterwards. He will be buried next to his wife, Phyllis.

Jerry was born on March 27, 1924 in San Diego, California one of 3 children of James and Rose Patrick. He volunteered for the Army on December 7, 1942. Jerry proudly served as a WWII combat medic in North Africa and Western Europe. He received two Bronze Stars and two Purple Hearts for his brave service.

Jerry then attended Kansas State University where he was a member of the basketball team and Sigma Nu fraternity.
He received a BS and MS in psychology. He had a successful career in the coal industry starting in sales and retiring as CEO and President.

Jerry was an active Kansas State alum. He served several terms on the K-State Endowment Association Board and the KSU Athletic Council. He was a founding member of the Ahearn Athletic Association. He started an award in honor of his wife for an outstanding teaching in Chemistry at the High School level and at the graduate level in the KSU Chemistry Department.

Jerry is survived by his 2 children, Kerry Patrick (Cindy) and their sons, Jerry and Christopher, Leawood; Kay Ballard (John), Lincoln, NE and their sons, Jared and Drew, Naples, FL

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to either the Salvation Army or the K-State Endowment Association.
