Gerald Wayne Thompson, age 87, of Mission, KS passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2010. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. on Friday, January 22nd at D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS. Burial in Johnson County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 10-11:00 A.M. on Friday at the chapel prior to the service.
Gerald was born on September 26, 1922 in Easton, KS. He was married to Hattie Highfill for 62 years. Gerald was employed by GM. His interests included gardening, biking, and running. He loved nature. Gerald was an avid reader and loved the farm. His proudest accomplishments were leading The Great Decisions Group and marathons. He also served in WWII. Gerald was a great provider and a hard worker. He will be missed by all of us. He is survived by his wife, Hattie; three sons, Kyle, Marc, and Craig; one daughter, Marla; and their spouses; and 10 grandchildren.
