Ginger E. Mead, 65, Overland Park, Kansas passed away on December 3, 2013 in Channahon, Illinois. A gathering for family and friends will be from 10-11:00 am, with a funeral service beginning at 11:00 am, Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, Kansas. Interment will be at 11:00 am the following day, December 11, 2013 in Mission Hills Cemetery, Smolan, Kansas. Ginger was born on April 26, 1948 in Upland, California to Donald and Margaret Ann Schropp. She grew up in San Diego & graduated from Mission Bay High School in 1966. She attended Pasadena Nazarene College & Biola University. She married Harvey Mead in 1969 and raised two children, Kim and Mike Mead. They later divorced and she settled in Overland Park, Kansas. She was a member of Life Church in Olathe, Kansas. She worked for the City of Lenexa, Kansas for 20 years, retiring in 2011. In her retirement she enjoyed spending time with family & friends. Her greatest joy in life was her faith & belief in her Savior, Jesus Christ.
Ginger was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Jakabosky and father, Donald Schropp. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Kim Wurzinger and her husband Marc, of Channahon, Illinois, her son Mike Mead and his wife Missy, of Olathe, Kansas, her five cherished grandchildren, Colin, Kerry, and Katie Wurzinger, and Ava and Ella Mead, her stepmother, Glennis Schropp, of McPherson, Kansas, and her siblings, Monte Schropp and his wife Tammy, of McPherson, Kansas, Mike Schropp, of McPherson, Kansas, Barbara Craig and her husband Randy, of Trent, South Dakota, Del Jakabosky and his wife Sharon, of Olathe, Kansas, and Kevin Jakabosky and his wife Tracy, of Shawnee, Kansas. She will also be remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who all loved her very much.
