Grace Null Phillips

November 13, 1915 — March 16, 2014

Grace Awilda Null Phillips, age 98, of Shawnee, Ks entered the gates of
Heaven on March 16, 2014, being reunited with her husband.
She was born November 13, 1915 in Williamsport, PA to Charles and
Martha Null. Grace was predeceased by her husband, Ed Phillips with
whom she shared 65 years of marriage filled with living life to the fullest.
She also is predeceased by her parents, 2 brothers and 2 sisters. She leaves
her son Ed Phillips and his partner, Michael of Columbus, Ohio, and her
daughter Juanita Messmer and husband Bill of the area. Also her grandsons,
Mike Messmer and his wife Julie and daughters Kerstin, Annika and Kajsa,
Bryan and his wife Vanessa and daughter Amber and son Bryan Jr, Kevin and his
wife Stacy and sons Taylor and Nick, and her granddaughter Mindy, all to live with
warm and loving thoughts of her. She woke up each day saying "today is a good day"
and lived believing that. Her enthusiasm for life was constant. She always enjoyed
her flower gardens, card games, Antique Club, Garden Club and music. God was a
rock in her life and she lived each day believing God was in control and would take care
of everything. She deeply loved her family. She always had positive thoughts and lived
a good life. She never wavered on anything she believed was right and she lived a
disciplined, happy life. She and Ed (dad) loved to travel and after his retirement traveled
many places around the world. She and dad have left each of us with life's best lesson's
by the way they lived. Our deepest and heartfelt gratitude go to the people God placed
in her life to help with her care. The caregivers of Interim Health Services and the caregivers
of Interim Hospice and their chaplain are truly an example of the greatest people on earth.. Everyone took care of mother through their hearts, giving her love and compassion, quality
professional care and treating her like family. Our family will forever be grateful to
each of her caregivers. We know how blessed we were to have them. And our
heartfelt thanks to Shawnee Hills Retirement home whose entire staff was consistently
so good to mother. Mother was able to leave this earth from our loving arms into God's eternal loving arms.
A private service will be held by her family to honor her life. Interment will take place at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Memorial Gardens.
