Gregory Alan Smith, 42, of Overland Park, passed away, March 13, 2011. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 17, at Church of the Nazarene, 9030 Lamar Ave., Overland Park, KS, 66207. A visitation will also be at the church from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 16. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to Overland Park Church of the Nazarene, or Kansas City Rescue Mission, 1520 Cherry St., Kansas City, MO, 64108. Greg graduated from Nickerson High School, and went on to college at Mid America Nazarene graduating with a bachelor's degree. He later married his loving wife, Elizabeth Annette (Brown), on Sept. 24, 1994. Greg was a proud member of the Overland Park Church of the Nazarene; where he enjoyed being a tutor for the English language program. A few of his hobbies included book reading and technology. Greg was preceded in death by his grandfather, Wilmer Friesen, and father, Marvin. Survivors include his wife, Beth; grandmother, Audrey Friesen; mother, Rosalie; sister, Amy Hyler; niece, Baylee Hyler, and many other aunts and uncles.
