Greg was born on April 16, 1957 to Earl and Phyllis Meissner in Guttenberg, Iowa. He lived in Olathe, Kansas and Overland Park, Kansas for many years, graduating from Shawnee Mission South HS in 1975, and moving to Albuquerque in April 2014. He proudly served in the US Marine Corps and later the Army Reserves, where he learned avionics skills that he used in working for King Radio, Bendix-King, Allied Signal, and Honeywell.
Greg left behind a rich and evident love for his family and his joy in spending time with them. He was an avid and oft-frustrated fan of the KC Chiefs, loved his music and keeping up on current events, was an enthusiast of playing and coaching soccer, and had a life-long fascination with aeronautics.
Greg’s compassion and care for others was shown in this online posting two weeks before his death: “…give a moment of support to all of those who have family problems, health struggles, job issues, worries of any kind and just needs to know that someone cares. Do it for all of us, for nobody is immune.”
Greg is survived by his loving wife, Jenny, daughter Laura, son Scott (Jessica), son Nick, and granddaughter (Kinsley), parents Earl and Phyllis Meissner, brothers Paul Meissner (Shirley) and Mark Meissner, and sister Kris Elliott (James).
