James G. Sheehan, age 67, Overland Park, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, November 04, 2008. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 7th at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 8311 W. 93rd Street, Overland Park. Burial in Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, Kansas. A gathering of family and friends will be held 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, with rosary recitation at 7:30, at the church. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions in Jim’s name be made to the Holy Cross Building Fund.

Jim was born September 4, 1941, the son of William & Glenrose Sheehan. Following his service in the Navy, Jim started his career in the grocery industry with his father’s store in Nebraska and working in all aspects of this industry. He was President of the Retail Grocers Association of Greater Kansas City, Executive Director of the Kansas Food Dealers Association, President of Food Industry Services, Inc., Secretary of the Cooperative Coupon Redemption Association. Jim also served as a board member and trustee for various related companies which included Chairman of the Missouri Retailers Association, Chairman of the Meat Cutters Health and Welfare and Pension Funds. Jim was also very active in his church, having served as President of Serra Club, and as a board member for the Associates of the Ursuline Nuns.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Richard Sheehan. Survivors include his wife, Luetta Sheehan; son, Kevin Sheehan, daughter, Kathleen Cattoor, son, Christopher Sheehan and six grandchildren. Arrangements, D. W. Newcomer’s Sons Johnson County Chapel, 913-451-1860.
