It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of our loving and devoted father and brother, Gus George Vedros. Gus passed away peacefully on June 16, 2020. He was born in Kansas City, Missouri on May 30,1945 to the late George and Helen Vedros.
Gus was a graduate of Kansas State University where he majored in economics and minored in history. He was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity and played baseball for the University.
After 40 years, he retired from Landstar Logistics. Even after retirement Gus continued to stay active with the Masonic Lodge #0770 where he was a member for 32 years.
Gus was a big movie buff and loved music. His favorite pastimes were spending time with his friends and family. He will always be remembered for his quick wit and was hardly ever seen without his ‘trademark hat’.
He is survived by his daughter, Cassandra (Chris) Taylor and granddog, Lady Taylor of Chicago, IL; daughter, Kara (Brandon) Mitchell of Casper, WY; and brother, Steve (Janis) Vedros, of Tulsa, OK.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Chicago Cubs Charities.
Visitation will be from 10-11:am on Thursday, June 25, 2020 followed by a funeral service at 11:00am at the Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave. Interment at Johnson County Funeral Chapel & Memorial Gardens in Overland Park, KS.
