Gwendolyn (Gwen) Fay Farmer 68, of Overland Park Kansas entered the gates of heaven on Tuesday, December 28th 2021 surrounded by her family. Gwen was born in Wichita, Kansas to Ray and Marcy Proctor.
Gwen’s early years were spent in Amarillo, Texas with her older sister Vicki before moving to the Kansas City area where she attended Shawnee Mission East. She met her lifelong friend and future husband Mike when she was 15. Gwen and Mike were blessed with their first son Travis in 1977 followed by the births of sons Reid and Cody. Gwen was active in the community while raising her young boys. She was President of the Olathe Jaycee Janes charitable organization and a member of the Olathe Junior Service League. Gwen was a performer in the acting/singing group that appeared every year at all of the Olathe elementary schools. She had a career with the Olathe and Blue Valley school districts before she retired in 2018.
Gwen was a loving wife, devoted mother and friend to all who knew her. She was distinguished by her fearless optimism and nonjudgmental attitude toward each and every person. She cherished her time with her family friends and only granddaughter Navah Fay.
Gwen and Mike traveled to many domestic and international destinations during her lifetime. She enjoyed 30 years of lake time at her house on The Lake of The Ozarks with her family and life long lake friends and was often referred to as a lake mom by her children’s friends.
She is survived by her husband Mike, three sons Travis Scott, Reid Allen, and Cody James Farmer, granddaughter Navah Fay and Sister Vicki Price of Lubbock Texas.
She was friends to everyone and will be forever missed.
