Mr. Harold Kittinger

Harold "Kit" Kittinger passed away on March 1, 2010 at the age of 87. Kit was born on January 6, 1923 in Toledo, Ohio. He attended Rockhurst and Westport High Schools in Kansas City. Kit married Marian Dille on June 15th, 1941. During World War II, Kit was a First Lieutenant in the Air Force (AARF#3) and was a navigator, bombardier flying B-24's. Kit and Marian lived in Leawood for 50 years. Kit was a manager at K.C. Stove and Electric; was an owner of Kesco Sales, Inc. and a Commercial Real Estate Agent for Boardman Hutchings. Kit was an avid golfer and hit eight holes in one during his golfing career. He is past president of both Leawood and Brookridge Country Clubs. Kit was a member of the Royal Order of Jesters since 1974. Kit and Marian were involved in "People to People" and sponsored officers and their families from Thailand, the Philippines and Egypt. Kit was a volunteer teacher’s aide at Corinth Elementary School for the 4th grade. He taught Sunday School to high school students at Leawood United Methodist Church. Kit was always willing to help others. He lived life to the fullest and loved unconditionally.
Kit is survived by his wife Marian; son, Jeff Kittinger (Maggie); daughter, Kathy Kittinger; grandson, Josh Kittinger (Evelyn); granddaughter, Kadie Kittinger; sister, Patty Bartel; great grandchildren, Joaquin and Isabella; daughter-in-law, Jamie Scheibach (Michael).
Memorial services will be held at 1:30 P.M. on Monday, March 8th at D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Vitas Charitable Foundation, 10000 W. 75th Street, Ste 240, Overland Park, KS 66204.
