Colonel Harold Lindley

Colonel Harold C. Lindley, Retired US Army, age 95, of Leawood, KS passed away on Thursday, September 6, 2012. He was born on June 25, 1917 in Sheldon, MO, the son of Bessie (Bartlett) and Warren Lindley. Colonel Lindley spent 31 years in the Army, having served in World War II and the Korean War. He attended the Command and Staff School in Leavenworth, KS and the War College in Carlisle, PA. He was a graduate of the University of Missouri Law School. After WWII, Colonel Lindley practiced law in Nevada, MO and was the prosecuting attorney in Vernon County. When contacted by the Army, Colonel Lindley returned to serve a distinguished military career.
Survivors include his wife, Arlene, of the home; daughters, Patricia Lindley (Dan) Holden, of Frontenac, KS, Kathleen Miller of Humansville, MO, Mary Fletcher of KC, MO, Ann Cronkhite and fiancé Rick Millard of KC, MO, Carol (Ron) Helm of Olathe, KS; sons, Paul (Laurel) Schwaab of Shawnee, KS, John (Lynn) Schwaab, of LaGrange Park, IL,; 12 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 1 sister, Betty Ann (Dean) Dockery of Sugarland, TX. He was preceded in death by his step mother, Hazel Lindley; sisters, Beth Lamphier and Lurline Ford and brothers, Howard and Robert Lindley.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:30 AM, Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave, Overland Park, KS 66210. Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:30 AM, at the funeral home. Entombment will be held in the Johnson County Memorial Gardens Indoor Courtyard of Memories. Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association, 6800 W. 93rd St, Overland Park, KS 66212 or to The Ladies of Charity Seton Center, 2816 E. 23rd St, KC, MO 64127 or to the Kansas City Hospice House, 12000 Wornall Rd, KC, MO 64145.
