Harold Weber

Harold “Hal” Edgar Weber Sr., 94, passed away May 11, 2016 at St. Joseph Health Center. Hal was born March 1, 1922 to parents Raymond and Lillian Weber in Dewey, Oklahoma. He was the eldest of their two sons. Hal graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1939 and the University of Kansas in 1943.  He was a lifelong member of Sigma Chi Fraternity and active on the KU Tennis Team. Hal served in the US Marine Corp during WWII, followed by a career with Cessna in Hutchinson, KS. He and his young family moved to Kansas City in 1957, where he continued his career as Owner/CEO of Paris Playing Card Co. until his retirement in 1980. Through the years he was an active member, golf enthusiast and occasional tennis player at Leawood, Brookridge, and Leawood South Country Clubs. He was LPGA Tournament Chairman for several years, consulted with the SBA Executive Volunteers after his retirement, and was an avid outdoorsman, including fishing and hunting every season. Hal was a 30 year member of Court 54 of the Jesters and 50 year member of the Shriners. He was preceded in death by his three wives, Wilma Jean Hadden Weber, Mary Margaret Cole Weber, and Bernadette Gohin Weber. As well, his stepson, John Michael Glenn. He is survived by his two daughters, Wendy Jo Weber (spouse Jim Knoch), Leslie Gayle Weber, a son, Harold (Chip) E. Weber Jr. (spouse Cheryl), and a brother, Charles Gail Weber. He was blessed with seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A visitation will be held Tuesday May 17, 2016 from 4:00 – 6:00 pm at Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Avenue; Overland Park, KS 66210.
