On March 2, 2007, Harry Klausen, at the age of 82, passed in his home at Gardner Lake that was designed and built by him and his wife Joyce. (He would have wanted you to know that 47,000 bricks were laid during construction). Harry was the youngest of 4 children, born on April 13, 1925 to Danish dairy farmers Fred and Kristine Klausen.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents, older brothers Edwin and Louie, and sister Helen Land. After returning from WWII, he married Joyce Walmer, his beloved wife of 57 years. He and his brother Louie formed a partnership that lasted for life, starting with co-owning Klausen Masonry. In 1969, Harry and Louie added their wives and sister to the partnership and for 23 years owned and managed Klausen Hardware. Once he retired, many hours were spent in his shop working on stained glass and wood projects, making wine, and enjoying the lake with family and friends. Harry will be remembered as a kind, patient, and optimistic man with a very strong work ethic and he will be extremely missed by all who knew him.
He leaves behind his devoted wife and three children; Kris Farmer and husband Rod, Elaine St.Clair, Harry (HJ) Klausen, Jr.; 5 grandchildren, Anneka Farmer, Weston Farmer, Tyler Farmer, Blake St.Clair, Elle St. Clair; great-granddaughter Makenzie Chrystine Farmer, and a cousin, Aksel Klausen.
A gathering of family and friends will be held 3:00 ? 4:00 p.m. Sunday, March 11th at D. W. Newcomer?s Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Avenue followed by a Memorial Service at 4:00 p.m. A celebration of Harry?s life will follow at Arcadian Hall at 95th & Antioch.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Harry Klausen Memorial Fund, C/O the funeral home.
