Heather Leigh Young, 51, of Grandview, Missouri passed away October 29, 2021.
She was born in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Judy (T.J.) Smith and Gary Young. She graduated from Plantation High School, Plantation, Florida and moved to Kansas City to be closer to her family. She followed in her grandfather and father’s footsteps and became an over-the-road truck driver. She loved the solitude, beauty and independence of over-the-road driving and stated, “she always felt her grandfather’s presence when driving”.
Heather also enjoyed driving a school bus and was especially fond of her elementary and special needs children and they were a blessing to her.
Heather was preceded in death by her grandparents, Darwin and Alverna Young, Rachel and Sam Gorman and George Lonchar. She is survived by her parents, her sisters; Stephanie Rodriguez, Tuesdae Young-Ranirez, aunt, Jill Young-Getz, nieces; Briana Rodriguez, Brooklyn, Bailey and Boston Ramirez, nephews; Chad Getz and Brandon Hu Chan and great-niece, Nayeli Roslaes, also extended family including aunts, uncles and cousins.
A service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, November 12, 2021 at Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, KS 66210
