Helen Burkett, much loved wife of Donald W. Burkett and a long-time resident of Roeland Park Kansas died in her home on Thursday, May 10th. Helen graduated from Rosedale high School, winning a scholarship to the University of Kansas, where she resided in Miller hall. She is survived by her lifetime sweetheart and husband of 70 years, Don, her three children, Pat (Frank) Stempski of San Jose, CA, Donald (Geraldine Barnes) Burkett of Sydney, Australia, and David (Iley) Burkett of Overland Park, KS, five grandchildren, Kyle, Curtis, and Phillip Burkett, Rebecca (Bob) McMahon, and Jennifer Stempski Burkett, and three great-grandchildren, Clara, Chris, and Megan McMahon. Betty, a famed dandelion slayer, loved crossword puzzles and poetry. She was a long-time member of the All Souls Unitarian-Universalist Church. Above all, she was always and always will be her husband Don's "girl." The family will receive friends on Monday, May 14th, 7:00 PM, at The Simpson House, 4509 Walnut, next to All Souls Unitarian-Universalist Church.
