Helen Pauline Cullerton, 93, Leawood, KS passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2009.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, April 25, 2009 at D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, Kansas. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to your favorite charity.
Helen was born November 12, 1915 in South Dakota, the daughter of Hans and Milda Asper. She had 10 brothers and sisters, two who survive her, Russ Asper and wife Geri of Red Wing, MN, and Lorraine Minier, San Jose, CA.
Helen graduated from nursing school at Methodist Hospital, Mitchell, S.D. She worked in hospitals, doctor offices, and was also a school nurse. She was a charter member of Faith Lutheran Church, Prairie Village, KS. She was a talented seamstress and had a love of music and playing the piano. She enjoyed homemaking, playing bridge, reading, and in her later years working crossword puzzles.
Mrs. Cullerton married Robert DeMers Cullerton in February 1944 in Butte, Montana. He preceded her in death. Other survivors include one son, Robert D. Cullerton, Jr., and wife Mary, Athens, GA, and 2 daughters, Sally Cullerton, Boulder, CO, and Pamela Cullerton, Lawrence, and four grandchildren, John Cullerton and wife Julia and their 2 children, Clara and Robbie, Anne Cullerton, Derek Prater and wife Katie, and Scott Prater and wife Katie.
