Helen June (Foltz) McClenahan, age 93, passed away Sunday, June 9, 2013, at Aberdeen Village, Olathe, KS. She was born in Wakarusa, KS, and attended high school in Topeka, KS, where she met and married her high school sweetheart, Ralph W. McClenahan, in October, 1942. In 1944 they moved to the Kansas City area when her husband was hired by Trans World Airlines. While raising their family they also enjoyed travelling. Mrs. McClenahan was an experienced seamstress and made custom draperies out of her home for the J. C. Penney Company for many years. In 1967 she went to work as a legal secretary for the Law Firm of Linde Thompson, where she worked for 12 years before her retirement in 1979. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Stanley and was a dedicated choir member in Presbyterian churches in Kansas and Missouri all of her adult life. She was active in church work, was a volunteer for the Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary, and was a member of the Sixth District Missouri Federation of Republican Women. The McClenahans maintained a winter home in Tuscon, AZ, for 15 years, enjoying the warm sunshine of the Southwest, while welcoming visits from family and friends. They traveled extensively with their TWA passes, and Paris, France, was always their special city. Ralph and Helen McClenahan were married 62 years before Ralph's death in March, 2004. Mrs. McClenahan spent the last nine years not-so-patiently waiting to join her beloved husband in Heaven. She leaves her daughter, Joy Schulz, and husband, Robert Schulz, of Mesa, AZ; a granddaughter, Rebecca Schulz, of Mesa, AZ; a granddaughter Margaret Herod, and husband Mike Herod, of Mt. Airy, MD; and two great-grandsons, Carter Michael Herod (10), and Christian Robert Herod (5), of Mt. Airy, MD. She is also survived by two brothers, O. Dale Foltz, of Lincoln, NE, and Eugene Foltz, of Topeka, KS. Mrs. McClenahan was preceded in death by her son, Ralph W. McClenahan, Jr. (Bill) of Alameda, CA; her brother Martin Foltz of Topeka, KS; and her sister Georgia Eberhart of Green Valley, AZ. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, June 25, 11:00am, at Aberdeen Village, 17500 W. 119th St., Olathe, KS, 66061. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Salvation Army.
