Helen will be remembered in song and story in a celebration of her life at St. Paul's United Methodist Church at 79th & Lackman, Lenexa, Kansas on July 15th at 2:30 p.m. Donations of time or money can be made in a memorial fund in her name to Solace House (A center for grieving children and families) 8012 State Line Road, #202 Shawnee Mission, Kansas 66208.
Helen was cremated and according to her wishes, her ashes will be placed above the grave of the love of her life, Harold Downing and by her eldest grandson, Matthew in the Columbia River Gorge where she had always wanted to go. And there her ashes will rise again in the flowers and trees and all other living things from there to the rivers and winds that connect all of nature. Helen Keller said, "The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart." We will feel our mother in our hearts forever.
