Mrs. Helen Peterson

October 23, 1920 — July 14, 2015

Helen M. (Gregar) Peterson, 94, of Roeland Park, KS passed away on July 14, 2015.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mike and Goldie Gregar; husband, Robert E.; sister, Dorothy Mercer; brother, George Gregar; and grandson, Todd Albers. She is survived by  her daughter and son-in-law, Patsy and Bob Albers; son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Diana Peterson; two sisters: Teresa Funk and Carolyn McClure;  grandchildren: Bert Peterson and his wife Nancy, Sarah Stewart and her husband Mike, Rosie Albers and her husband Joseph Dom, Ashley Byram and her husband Troy; great-grandchildren: Katelyn Peterson, Shelby Peterson and Connor Stewart. Helen was looking forward to the births of two additional great-granddaughters, Mackenzie Stewart and Charlotte Dom. After graduating from Rosedale High School, she became a member of Delta Epsilon Sorority for 60 plus years.  During World War II her husband Bob, a Marine, was stationed at Camp Pendleton and they lived on base where she worked as a secretary.  She retired from Farm Bureau Insurance, where she worked as a claims adjustor for Johnson and Wyandotte Counties.  She donated her time and talent in charitable endeavors through Johnson County Cancer Action Network and with her husband Bob through Southwestern Bell Pioneer Group.  She enjoyed an active role in her children's families, spending many hours on farms on both sides of the state line.  She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, sewing items for them and attending countless school and sporting events. A visitation will be held from 9:30-10:30am Tuesday, July 21st, at Johnson County Funeral Chapel with funeral services following at 10:30 a.m.  Burial will be in Johnson County Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in memory of Helen are suggested to Cancer Action, 10520 Barkley,Overland Park, KS 66212
