Helen Trites, 92, passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at Delmar Gardens of Overland Park.
Helen was born August 29, 1920, in St Paul, MN, first child of Robert and Nora (Kongsvik) Woodbury. She graduated from the University of Minnesota and proudly served our country as a member of the WAVES branch of the US Navy. She was stationed in Corpus Christi, TX, as a Link Instructor, teaching pilots how to fly. On March 23, 1946, she married Harry Trites, in St Paul, MN.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Ross.
Helen is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Harry; four children, HTom, Scott, Deb and Ralph; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; brother, Woody; sisters, Cindy and Joyce; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 20, 2013, at Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, 9100 Mission Road, Prairie Village, KS 66207. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. Interment will be held at 9:00 am on Monday, July 22, 2013, at Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery, 395 Biddle Boulevard, Fort Leavenworth, KS 66027.
