Helen Vedros 1922 - 2016
Helen Vedros, 94, of Kansas City passed away peacefully on December 2, 2016. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, George Vedros, her sister, Marika Stamu, and her brothers Gus Leondedis and George Leondedis.
She is survived by two sons, Gus Vedros Bolingbrook, IL, and Stephen (Jannis) Vedros of Tulsa, OK, four grandchildren, Ashley (Tinoush) Shifteh of Pasadena, CA, Lindsey Vedros of Tulsa, OK, Kara (Brandon) Mitchell Flagstaff, AZ, and Cassandra Vedros of Chicago, IL, and one great-grandchild, Alec Shifteh. Helen had numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins and she loved every one of them.
Helen was born in Kansas City, KS in June of 1922 to Peter and Erasmia Leondedis. Raised in the Armourdale area, she attended Wyandotte High School.
Helen worked in the financial industry for many years. She was very active in the Greek church and she sang in the choir and had leadership roles in the church's Greek Festival and other events. She was a proud member of the Greek Orthodox Ladies Philoptochos Society.
Services will be held Monday, December 5th at 11:00am (Trisagion service at 10:00am) at St. Dionysios Greek Orthodox Church.
