HERBERT C. GREEN 85, Overland Park, passed away January 21, 2012 at the Menorah Medical Center, due to heart failure.
He was born September 2, 1926 in Jefferson City, MO the son of Ervin and Nellye B. (Tatlow) Green.
Herbert served our country during World War II as Seaman First Class in the United States Navy. He served aboard the U.S.S. Hoggatt Bay, where he crossed the Equator 50 times as a Shellback.
He worked 25 years as Matthew-Hinsman Co. and upon retiring he opened his own upholstery business. He loved traveling the world and was an avid reader.
Mr. Green was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Lee, J.P. and Victor.
Survivors include his wife, Edna; two daughters, Dawn and Kim all of Overland Park; two sisters, Alice Curry of San Jacinto, CA and Faye Davis (Earl) of Raytown, MO.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 4, 2012 at the D.W. Newcomers' Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS 66210. The family will receive friends at 1:00 p.m. before the service hour. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
