Honna Tyra Rodriguez

Honna Tyra Rodriguez, 44, Basehor, passed away Friday, July 9, 2021.  A memorial service to celebrate her life will be 11:00am Saturday July 24th at Asbury United Methodist Church, 5400 W. 75th street, Prairie Village.

Tyra had a good heart, strong personality and she loved her boys who were the center of her world, she loved all of her family.  She loved to tan and be outside at the lake and parks.   She enjoyed going to the zoo especially on Mother’s Day.  It was a tradition she had with her boys.  Tyra cared about animals and was always bringing random pets home.  She had fun going to dances and listening to music.  She was always intrigued by the medical field. Tyra went to school for a little while to be a medical transcriber and then was talking about going to school to be a phlebotomist, following in her mother’s footsteps.

Tyra was preceded in death by a brother, Jeffery Lynn Helms; and her mother, Donna Berry Helms;  Her grandparents, James Edward Harvey and Mini Barry Edwards.  She is survived by her three sons: James, Joseph, Austin; her sister, Sallie Jones; and her nieces and nephews, Clifton, Sarah, Meagan and Tyler.
