Harold Richard Noon, 80 affectionately known by friends and family as Dick Noon, of Leawood, Kansas, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 in his home surrounded by family. Dick was born in Sicklerville, New Jersey to Bessie and H. Richard Noon, Sr. For the first half of his life, Dick lived in New Jersey before moving to Kansas in 1973. Dick graduated from La Salle University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Dick was a devoted husband to Doris, his loving wife of 57 years. He was a loving and supportive father to 5 children that he and Doris raised to be strong in the Christian faith. Dick practiced his faith through his devoted prayer times, the studying of his Bible, and in serving others through various community missions. Dick was a member of the Church of the Resurrection.
Dick was a man of wisdom and stature who humbly raised his five children and affectionately supported and called their spouses “his children”. Dick will, in spirit, undoubtedly continue to guide “his 10 children”: H. Richard Noon, III (Rick) and his wife Mary of Stilwell, Kansas; Debra Elaine Effinger and her husband James of Plano, Texas; David Eric Noon and his wife Heather of Overland Park, Kansas; Douglas Lee Noon and his wife Allison of Frisco, Texas; and Donna Eileen Hunt and her husband Brad of Overland Park, Kansas.
Dick was a proud grandfather to 17 grandchildren: H. Richard IV and Amy Noon; Jaime, Eric, Alysa, MaeKayla, and Spencer Effinger; Holly, Kaitlyn, and Lindsey Noon; Wesley, Trevor, and Jared Noon; and Easton, Creyton, Adrie, and Jenson Hunt.
Dick has now joined his mother and father in heaven. Dick is survived by his two sisters Eileen and husband Anthony Gabriel and Claire Noon, and his two brothers Patrick Noon and Dennis and wife Betty Ann Noon who all reside in New Jersey.
Dick had recently retired from the business he started in 1984, Bankers Mortgage Investment Group, Inc. In addition to his business, Dick served as chairperson and/or on the board and as a volunteer for numerous community organizations such as the Kansas City Water Board, The Light House, Hope Faith Ministries, KC Hospice, and CASA.
Per Dick’s humble request, there will be a private, family only service at a later date. In honor of Dick’s passion and acts of service for many missions in the Kansas area, the family has selected two of his areas of service to receive donations in his name:
Hope Faith Ministries, 705 Virginia Avenue, Kansas City MO, 64106
Kansas City Hospice, 1500 Meadow Lake Parkway, Suite 200, Kansas City, MO 64114
Church of the Resurrection, 13720 Roe Blvd., Leawood, KS 66224.
