Jack D. Brewer, age 81, Overland Park, Kansas, passed away Thursday, January 8, 2009. A gathering of family and friends will be held 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. Monday, January 12th at D. W. Newcomer’s Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Avenue, Overland Park, Kansas. Cremation, with inurnment in Johnson County Memorial Gardens. Jack was born May 14, 1927 to Charles and Ann (Rhodes) Brewer in Cale, Arkansas. Jack was a native of El Dorado, Arkansas, had lived in Overland Park, and prior to that, Prairie Village, Kansas since 1964. He was a former deacon and treasurer of Nall Avenue Baptist Church in Prairie Village, Kansas. Jack was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, life member of the University of Arkansas Alumni Association, and a retired financial officer of a Midwest group of telephone companies.
He was preceded in death by two daughters, Dinah Lou Brewer and Barbara Jill Brewer-Grindel. Survivors include his wife of ___ years, Mattye Lou Brewer; and two sons, Jack Dennis Brewer of Mission, Kansas and Hal Douglas Brewer of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Arrangements, D. W.
