Jack R. Carden, 91, of Prairie Village, KS, died Nov. 18, 2014 at Kansas City Hospice House.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Nov. 24, 2014 at 1 pm at the Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, KS 66210. Visitation will be from noon to 1 PM.
Jack was born October 20, 1923, in Kansas City, Kansas, the son of Linton R. and Claretta M. Carden.
He graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1941. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army from 1942 until 1945.
Jack was an employee of the Union Pacific Railroad for 43 years, retiring in 1985 as Assistant Terminal Superintendent.
He was a member of Roeland Park United Methodist Church and Wyandotte Lodge No. 3 Masonic Lodge.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Mildred Mickelson, Virginia Beaver, Carrie Lorton, Jean Hopkins, and Peggy Gregg; brother, Linton (Bud) Carden; infant son, Gary Richard Carden; and daughter Julie Kay Carden.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mary Ellen (Webb) Carden, of the home; Larry R. (Debbie) Carden, Linwood, Kansas, granddaughter, Julie Brooke Carden, Welda, Kansas, grandson, Christopher Reid Carden, Lawrence, Kansas and many nieces and nephews.
