Jack J. Connelly 78, resident of Overland Park, KS since 1961, died Monday, December 1, 2008 in Naperville, IL. Funeral service with military honors will be 2:00 P.M Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Johnson County Funeral Chapel, 11200 Metcalf the family will greet friends beginning at 1:00 P.M. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 P.M. Monday at the chapel. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the Salvation Army, 3637 Broadway, Kansas City, MO 64111.

Jack was born November 7, 1930 in Joplin, MO the son of Jennings L. Connelly and Helen (Simpson) Connelly. He served in the United States Air Force from 1951-1955. He worked for the United States Postal Service as a letter carrier in Overland Park for 28 years with 25 of those years on the same route. For over 40 years he was a member of the Greater Kansas City Dahlia Society serving as treasurer for many of those years. He served as A.D.S. Senior Accredited Judge at the Kansas City Dahlia Show and the Missouri State Fair and was a member of The Garden Club Association of Greater Kansas City.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary Ann Connelly, of the home, daughter, Christine Benoit and her husband, Chris, granddaughter Sarah Ann Benoit, all of Naperville, IL; sister Jo Ann Brill and her husband William, Joplin, MO; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Jack and Cyndy Gilbert, Kearney, MO; numerous nieces and nephews, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Lou Miller, funeral arrangements by D.W.
