Mr. Jack Lee Scurlock

Jack Samuel Lee Scurlock, age 60, of Kansas City, Missouri, was escorted by angels to heaven on March 6, 2009 at North Kansas City Hospital after his battle with lung cancer. A celebration of Jack’s life will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 11th at D. W. Newcomer’s Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Avenue, Overland Park, Kansas. Burial in Johnson County Memorial Gardens. A gathering of family and friends will be held 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel. Jack was born on January 10, 1949 to Samuel and Frances (Mulliken) Scurlock in Desoto, Kansas. He was married to Virginia Smoothers until her death. On June 22, 2002, Jack married Judy (Craig) Blair. Together they made their home happy and filled full of love. He was employed by the Liberty School District for four years and was the head custodian of Lillian Schumacher Elementary School. He also worked part-time for Standard Parking. Before hand, Jack was a private courier for Quick Silver for many years. He will be remembered for being a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His wonderful smile and friendly persona always made everyone feel loved. He was a hard worker that took pride and integrity in everything he did.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Scurlock (whom he called “Honey Buns”) of the home; his children, Mimi Jorgenson and her husband John of Oconomowac, Wisconsin, Alana Roach and her husband Lenard of Kansas City, Kansas, Rhonda Citro and her husband John of Kansas City, Missouri, Randy Blair and his wife Michelle of Wichita, Kansas, and Erin Blair of Gladstone, Missouri; 9 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; brother, Daniel Scurlock of Rochester, New York; sister, Ja Hurst of Prairie Village, Kansas; and many extended family members and friends who loved and adored him.
