Jack D. Martin, 79, of Leawood, Kansas died peacefully Saturday, December 16, 2006 at St. Joseph Medical Center.
Jack was born in Henryetta, Oklahoma, April 18, 1927. Soon thereafter his family moved to Rich Hill, Missouri. He graduated from Rich Hill High School in 1945, joined the Navy and served one year in Hawaii; worked for the Veterans Administration for 4 years and served in the Korean War with the US Air force for 2 years. Following his discharge, he went to work for the Bendix Corporation and retired in 1990. Jack was a member of the Red Bridge Lions Club and a volunteer with St. Joseph Medical Center Auxiliary until his recent illness. He attended Colonial Presbyterian Church, 9500 Wornall Road, Kansas City, MO where he was a member of the Primetimers Sunday School Class. Jack had great faith throughout his lifetime and was very family oriented.
He married his wife Nona (Cumpton) June 1, 1947 in Rich Hill, MO. and two children were born of this union. Jack is preceded in death by his parents, Sadie and Clarence Martin; and his son David Bruce Martin. He is survived by his wife Nona Martin; daughter Jacqueline (Jackie) Jacobs; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren
