Jack H. Sharp passed away Monday, Aug. 27, 2012 at Sweet Life in Overland Park, KS, following a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease. He was 90 years old. Jack is survived by his wife, Celeste; son, Greg, of Pinetop, AZ; daughter, Peggy, of Overland Park, KS; granddaughter, Jennifer Hirt (Eric Hirt), great grandson, Jackson Hirt of Olathe, KS; and numerous nieces and nephews. Jack was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and mentor.
Jack was born Aug. 19, 1922 in Emporia, KS, to Charles and Iola Sharp. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Charles Sharp.
Jack married Celeste on Feb. 1, 1948 in Emporia, KS. They enjoyed 64 incredible years together while residing in the Kansas City area. Jack and Celeste also built and lived at their ranch, the J&L Spring Lake Ranch in Belton, MO. He was a World War II veteran serving in the Army Air Corps as an instructor/examiner in AT-6's and B-17's. He graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree in Physics from Emporia State in 1947. Jack was an active member of the Phi Delta Chi fraternity while attending Emporia State. He was also a member of Shriners for 30 years and was an influential business and real estate developer in Johnson County. Jack lived an exceptionally full life entertaining and socializing with his numerous friends and family. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, flying, music, classic cars, and spending the winter months in Kauai, HI and Scottsdale, AZ.
Visitation will be at 9:30 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am, Thursday, August 30, 2012 at St. Ann Catholic Church, 7231 Mission Road, Prairie Village, KS, with burial to follow at Johnson County Memorial Gardens, 11200 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, KS.
