Jack Wylie

August 30, 1928 — December 23, 2014

John "Jack" Wylie, of Leawood, KS and Palm Desert, CA, joined his beloved wife, Glenna, in eternal rest on December 23, 2014. He joins his mother, father and five siblings. Jack is survived by one living sister, Marilyn Craig of Brookfield, MO, as well as two daughters: Stephanie Wright (husband) Ray of Lusby, Maryland, and Tammera Beaty (husband) Mike of Blairstown, Mo., four grandchildren: Laurel, Thaddeus, Ryan and Rachelle and five great-grandchildren: Casen, McKinley, Channing, Shelby and Sydney. He was an avid skier, photographer and philanthropist. But his primary joy was spending time with other people, telling stories, laughing and keeping them company.

Jack was born August 30, 1928 in Brookfield, Missouri and graduated from Columbia University, working at Ranch Hand Foods, and DST Systems before purchasing Midwest Boneless Meat. After selling MBM, Jack, ever the entrepreneur, opened B & B Meat Company. B & B was sold in 2000. But, even after his retirement, Jack never stopped providing wisdom to the next generations of Kansas City's business leaders.

Beginning in 1995, Jack and Glenna began wintering in Palm   Desert, California, where they leave behind many friends, especially those at the Indian Wells Country Club. Jack and Glenna loved animals, especially their dogs: Jessie, Shortsy, Wylie I and Wylie II. Since Glenna's passing, Wylie II had become Jack's much-loved and constant companion.  Jack was a passionate philanthropist, especially supporting Ronald McDonald House, Wayside Waifs and the Avila College of Nursing. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Jack's memory to any of these organizations, all located in Kansas City, MO.

Services will be held on Saturday, January 31, at Cure of Ars Catholic Church, 9401 Mission Road, Leawood, KS 66206. Visitation will be at 9:00 a.m., followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m., with reception following in the Fr. Burak room.  For more information or to send condolences visit www.JohnsonCountyChapel.com
