Jacqueline “Jaci” (Babcock) Crumpler, 70, of Leawood, KS passed away on Sunday, April 10, 2016 at Kansas City Hospice House after a short battle with Lung and Brain Cancer.
One of two children, Jaci was born June 19, 1945 in St. Joseph, MO to parents Norman Babcock, former superintendent of the Corinth School District of Prairie Village and Florence (Morgan) Babcock, lifelong kindergarten teacher in the Shawnee Mission School District.
Jaci carried on the family tradition of elementary school teaching as a 25 year kindergarten teacher in Shawnee Mission and Blue Valley. She graduated the University of Kansas in 1967 and held a BS and MS in Education. Jaci was a devoted and loving mother, daughter and friend who dedicated herself to caring for her ailing father in the last two decades of his life. Spring was her favorite time of year and she enjoyed planting flowers and gardening. Jaci will be loved and missed by all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her Parents Norman and Florence and her brother Rex Babcock. Jaci is survived by her Daughter Kim Davis and her family, husband Gary and children Lauren, Brooke, and Luke of Overland Park; Son JD Crumpler III and his daughter Addison of Leawood. She is also survived by her former husband of 43 years Jim Crumpler – the two were married June 12, 1967 at Village Presbyterian Church.
A Memorial Service will be held for Jaci on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at 1pm at Johnson County Funeral Chapel 11200 Metcalf Ave. Overland Park, KS 66210. Jaci will be interred in Johnson County Memorial Gardens during a private, family graveside. Jaci’s family requests memorial donations be made to the Kansas City Hospice House 1500 Meadow Lake Parkway, Suite 200, KC, MO 64144. Checks Payable to Kansas City Hospice Foundation.
