James E. “Jim” Jackson, 69, of Overland Park, Kansas passed away Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at St. Joseph Hospital.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, October 3rd at Ascension Catholic Church, 9510 W. 127th Street, Overland Park, KS. Friends may call on the family one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Lenexa, KS. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Pro-Life Office, 12615 Parallel Parkway, Kansas City, KS 66120.
Jim was born January 3, 1940 in Oskaloosa, KS. He was a lifelong resident of Kansas City and attended Bishop Hogan High and Washburn University. In 1961, Jim joined the Army National Guard. He spent his career with First Data Corp. in direct sales marketing and information systems which lasted 19 years, when he retired in 1996. Jim was a member of the Ascension Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. He volunteered for Catholic Charities and also worked part-time for Newcomer’s Funeral Homes.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bud and Maurice Jackson; sister, Mary Teresa Condra; and his wife of 39 years, Catherine S. Jackson.
Survivors include 3 children, Jeff (Misty) Jackson, Sandy (Troy) Neisen, and Mike (Krystyl) Jackson. He also leaves 8 grandchildren; companion and friend, Patty Leathers; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
