James "Jim" Richard Elliott, 90, passed away suddenly in the early hours of Thursday, April 23, 2015. Visitation will be Saturday, May 2, 1:30 - 2:30 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 21155 College Blvd, Olathe, KS, followed by a celebration of life service, also at church. Jim was born on January 5, 1925 to Ray and Marie Elliott. He lived most of his early years in Topeka, KS. He served in the US Navy in WWII on the USS Barrow. Jim married Lois Stolpe on March 1, 1947, and later they moved to Olathe where they raised their family. They were married for 64 years. She precedes him in death (2011). Jim and Lois were longtime active members of St. Marks Lutheran Church in Olathe. Jim worked for Santa Fe Railroad and Reno Construction Company. You would often find him in the basement tinkering with his large HO model train layout or in the workroom fixing something. He enjoyed his Tom Clancy books, the newspaper, and 6:00 news. His favorite pastime was to be on the road with Lois in their RV. Lois and Jim parented many foster babies for several years through Lutheran Social Services. He was a patient man, slow to anger and a good friend to many.
Survivors include his children; Christine (Loman) Wildy, Nancy (Charles) Letcher, Timothy (Linda) Elliott; grandchildren; Matthew Wildy (Hayley), Jonathan Wildy, Joshua Joles, Michael Letcher, Eric Letcher, Jacob Elliott, and Ethan Elliott; his sister, Marian Uhlig and a sister-in-law, Eleanor Janetos. The family suggests memorial contributions to St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 21155 College Blvd., Olathe, KS 66061-7312
