James William Fetters – 11/14/1944 – 6/12/2019
OVERLAND PARK, KS. – James William Fetters, 74, passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at the Overland Park Regional Hospital following a long illness.
Jim was born in Willard, Ohio and raised in Plymouth, Ohio. He was the son of Donald and Betty Fetters. He played football, #55, as a tackle. He graduated from Plymouth High School and was a long – time member of The Boy Scouts of America and became an Eagle Scout. Jim attended The Ohio State University and graduated with a nursing degree. Later he received a Master’s Degree at Ottawa University.
In December of 1979 he married the love of his life. They established their home in Overland Park, KS. where they raised their son, Adam.
He leaves his wife of 40 years, Rebecca (Langston) Fetters, his son, Adam M. Fetters, his animal companions, Lucy, Maggie and Salem. A brother John L. Fetters (Mary) and sister Judi (Fetters) Guy (Richard) of Columbus, Ohio. Proceeded in death by brother Thomas R. Fetters (Judy). Many nieces and nephews as well as many close friends.
A memorial service will be held at Heritage United Methodist Church, 12850 Quivira Rd, in Overland Park, Kansas on July 10, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. Visitation at the church at 1:30 with a reception following the service.
