James E. Gilchrist

February 2, 1939 — September 30, 2023

Raymore

James Ernest Gilchrist passed away Saturday, September 30, 2023.

Jim was born the youngest of four children to Harry and Martha Gilchrist in Kansas City, Missouri, on February 2, 1939. He worked in uniform apparel sales for more than 50 years and had a passion for it. He liked helping people and he was able to do that until the very end.

Jim met his wife, Peggy Dewey, at Kansas University where they both attended school. They married on November 2, 1963, surrounded by friends and family. In 1967, Jim and Peggy had their first child, Bradford. Two years later, they welcomed their second child, Jason, into the world. He worked hard to make sure they were taken care of and be the best father and husband he could be.

Jim loved dogs, the Kansas City Royals, The Chiefs, golf, and anything KU.  He also liked to fish and BBQ when he had the chance.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy, his brother, Don, his sister, June, his mother and father, and many beloved pets.

He is survived by his sons Brad (Amy Gilchrist) and Jason (Lorrie Gilchrist), two beautiful grandchildren, Georgianne and Porter, and his sister Ruth Snyder.
