James Gleeson

September 9, 1935 — May 12, 2017

Jim passed away on May 12, 2017 at The Forum of Overland Park. He was born in Topeka, Kansas on September 9, 1935 to William F. and Vera Barker Gleeson. He graduated from Rockhurst High School in 1953 and Rockhurst College in 1957. On May 2, 1981 he married Judy Rice Eaton. In 1983 he started a very successful manufacturer’s representative company, J.F. Gleeson and Associates, selling small electric motors and other electrical equipment. After selling his company, Jim continued to work part time until he retired. After retirement he was able to play more golf, which he loved. He was a member of Country Club of Leawood and Meadowbrook Country Club, where he served as President. He was a member of PTRA (Power Transmissions Representatives Association) where he served on the Board and as President. Jim enjoyed his volunteer work for many years at Rockhurst University in the Advancement Department and at Curé of Ars Church where he was an usher and home bound Eucharist Minister.

He will be remembered as one of the most caring men you would ever know. He always put others interests before his own. Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Judy; sister, Judy May; daughter, Carol (John) Withers; son, Mike (Erin) Gleeson; stepsons, Ray (Wendy) Eaton, and Dave (Lynne) Eaton; 11 grandchildren; and 2 great grandsons; his friend who visited him almost every day, Terry Rozell; and his sheltie, Finnegan.

Services will be at Curé of Ars Catholic Church on Friday, May 19, visitation from 9:30-11AM, with Mass at 11AM.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Curé of Ars Church, or to the
Gleeson Family Scholarship Fund at Rockhurst University, 1100 Rockhurst Road, Kansas City, MO 64110.
