James Leon Havlas, 59, Raymore, Mo., passed away Wednesday, August 22, 2007, at home after an extended illness. Memorial services will be held Sunday, August 26, 2007, 1 p.m., at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, Kan. Memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of the funeral home. He graduated from Plainville High School, spent two years in the Army and had a one year tour in Vietnam. He went on to receive his bachelor of science degree from Mary Mount College. He was a master craftsman. His accomplishments included many kitchen remodels showcased in many Kansas City Home & Garden publications. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his father Lionel Havlas, and son-in-law Kerri Kollman. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Jan of Raymore, Mo.; mother and stepfather, Vera and Tom Park of Hays, Kan.; two sisters, Teresa McCarthy of Manhatten, Kan., and Sue Noll of Hays, Kan.; two children, Angie Kollman of Salina, Kan., and Scott Havlas of Fort Collins, Colo.; three stepchildren, Christina Diederich of Olathe, Kan., Shannon Becker of Hays, Kan., and Amanda Curry of Westminster, Colo.; 11 grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
