JAMES A. JOHNSON, 96, passed away December 15, 2012 at Villa St. Francis Nursing Home.
James was born Nov. 1, 1916 in Mt. Hope, KS to Dr. Charles & Mabel Johnson. He is preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Evelyn; granddaughter Cindy Jordan; his parents; 2 brothers; and 1 sister. Left to celebrate his life are his daughters, Judy Murphey (Forrest), Barbara Grigar and Sheila Hagaman (Doug); 10 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.
James grew up in Wichita, KS and graduated from Friends University where he met and married the love of his life, Evelyn. He served in the Army Air Corps in Arlington, VA. After the war, the family returned to Kansas where James earned his Master of Engineering Degree. After a successful career in sales he retired in Overland Park.
A memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 5, 2012 at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park, KS 66210. Memorials may be sent to Villa St. Francis, 12600 W. 126th Street, Olathe, KS 66062.
