James Richard Limer, 75, died on May 6, 2022 in Lenexa, Kansas.
Jim was born in Highland, Illinois to James Franklin Limer and Marianna Theresa Balma on April 8, 1947. He grew up in Pocahontas, Illinois and married Susan Marie Stoecklin on August 29, 1968 in Highland, Illinois.
Jim was a veteran of the United States Army and served in Vietnam from 1968-1970. He graduated from Maryville College and worked for Western Electric and Southwestern Bell while living in Ballwin, Missouri. Jim relocated his family to Overland Park, Kansas in 1983 and worked for Southwestern Bell and Sprint until retirement.
He is survived by Susan (wife of 53 years), children Brett (and spouse Shelby), Bryan (and spouse Nicki), Jeff (and partner Kristen) and Jenny (and partner Ammon); grandchildren Flora (and spouse Logan), Matthew, Penny and Grae; siblings Judy, Ron (and spouse Brenda), Kathy (and spouse Dave) and a loving extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Mary Ann.
A celebration of life with military honors will be held at Johnson County Funeral Chapel and Memorial Gardens on Friday, May 13 at 4:00pm. Relatives and friends may gather at the family home following memorial services. As per Jim’s wishes, a formal burial service will not be held.
