James Mayes

James Harold Mayes Sr., 94 of Overland Park, Kansas passed away on December 7, 2011. He was born April 3, 1917 in Pittsburg, Kansas and had lived in the Kansas City area since 1950. He was employed on the corporation audit staff of the Greyhound Corporation at the time of his retirement in 1982. He served in the Navy during WW II and was very active in the Lutheran Layman's League.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Nola Mundt Mayes in 1999. He was also preceded in death by his parents Iver Earl and Grace Mayes. He is survived by his children Dr. Sharon Bagg, Rev. James Mayes Jr. (Becky) and Rev. Theodore Mayes (Joline); 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Monday, December 12 at Bethany Lutheran Church, 9101 Lamar, Overland Park , Ks. 66207 with visitation at 9:00 AM. Burial will follow at Johnson County Memorial Gardens, 11200 Metcalf, Overland Park.
